Gary started his career as the law clerk to the Honorable Noel Fidel, Arizona Court of Appeals.  Following his clerkship, Gary took a position as the law clerk to the Honorable Lawrence Ollason, Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Arizona (who also served on the Ninth Circuit's Bankruptcy Appellate Panel). He would go on to serve as the Estate Administrator for the District of Arizona (a position which was precursor to the United States Trustee's Office). In 1989, Gary returned to San Diego to join the law firm of Wittman & Wittman, after Sandy Wittman was appointed to be the United States Trustee for Region 15.

Gary practices in the areas of commercial bankruptcy, real estate litigation, corporate transactions, and entity formation. He has practiced in the bankruptcy and transactional departments of San Diego firms for the past twenty-two years. In 2013, Gary was selected by San Diego Magazine as one of the “Top Lawyers in San Diego

Throughout his 25 year career Gary has negotiated and settled disputes for small business owners in various sectors including motorcycle dealerships, equipment leasing, automotive dealerships, gym ownership, creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, and restaurateurs. 

In his free time, Gary enjoys the sport of lacrosse and served as captain for the University of Arizona team.  Today he has transitioned from the lacrosse field to triathlon course, and has completed many Ironman races (including qualification for and participation in the world championship at the half Ironman distance).
